Description

Vermiculite is used for hatching reptile eggs.
A reptile egg should always be in a slightly moist bedding, which makes the use of Vermiculite ideal, because it retains moisture and ensures that the reptile eggs do not get dry.

Prepare vermiculite
Vermiculite is easy to prepare, you take a tray to put in the reptile eggs, for example a Braplast box. Here you can adjust a layer of about 3 cm of vermiculite, after which you can pour over lukewarm water. Let this soak in until the vermiculite has absorbed the moisture a bit. Then carefully drain the tray so the excess water does not remain in the container. To prevent too high humidity later.
After this you can place the eggs in the substrate. Often slightly in the substrate with about 1/3 to 1/2 visible above the substrate.

After this you can cover the eggs with the lid that comes with the tray, do not really close it but keep it a little open. Or poke some bigger holes in the lid.

Then you can place the tray with the eggs in the incubator and it is time to wait for the eggs to grow. Of course you always pay attention to how the eggs are doing.
